The sickies....

yes, we have 'em.... Amaris came home with a stomach virus and gave it to us all...except Eric... he is at the farm. So I'm doing just what has to be done to get by at this point.... no one feels good and we are all just a bit grouchy it seems.....so , I'll post more after we are better......

Cutting at the debt....

Well, we got the tax refund in and we are cutting into the debt with it.... since Eric is still without work (please pray for our situation) we have had some bills get behind ... so with the refund we designated monies for debt cutting and paid off all the medical bills we had (most were behind) and now we only have 2 bills and the monthly payments are minimal .... I heaved a great sigh of relief after writing all those checks today! Mailing them out in the morning and so glad that we are slowly getting debt free! As it stands now we have less than 15K in debt and we are hopeful to pay this off as soon as possible!!!

Now, we did budget for some of the refund money to go towards a bit of a fun night... we are planning to take the kids out to a dinner and a movie... haven't told them yet... we want it to be a surprise!!! And I'm going to get me a digital camera (so excited!!!) we will take the remaining money and use it for utilities in the upcoming months if Eric does not find a job withing that time.

Hot Topic....the Secret.....

We don't watch television in our house ...well let me rephrase that...we don't watch cable, dish, or mainstream television .... we do own TV sets along with a VCR and DVD players and we watch movies and shows... but we have done without daily mainstream television for nearly 10 years now. We do watch with family when we visit but we really don't miss it at home.
So, this past weekend while we were visiting Eric's parents she had the Oprah show on... and the show was a "revisit" to an earlier show ...the Secret... I had not heard of this new book/movie/whatnot that is supposedly sweeping the nation so I listened.....and was saddened by what were simple Bible teachings being twisted in a New Age propaganda frenzie.... the more the guests spoke the more my MIL and I discussed what was being said.... yes, we agreed that it all looked and sounded great on the surface....but once you listened to the speakers and Oprah herself it was clear that although the simplest ideas of the Secret were based in Biblical principles that the deeper you delved in you found that it was more of an idea of its all bout me... there can be not judgment cause we are all gods.....like I said New Age propaganda. When a Christian woman asked about heaven/hell and Judgement Day...she was bombarded with it.... smoothly I'd have to say and really given what sounded like near truths but in the end it was just more of the same...Jesus was just a prophet....and we are all our own gods.

This verses just kept coming to me....

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. It may sound good on the surface .... but we must always be vigilant in the testing of spirits and teachings .... does it come from God.... if it minimizes or denies Christ....it is NOT of GOD. Period. No matter how good it sounds.

Good Morning World.....

I know I've been away for a bit but I am hoping to get a good restart on the blog... I am hoping to be able to purchase a digital camera soon and look forward to adding pictures to my blog....I want to really get this thing up and going and use it daily as sort of a journal of sorts....and to let family keep up with us.....well....gotta get the kids up and going for school....check in later.
